A week of Steel Drum, African and Brazilian drumming combined with Carnival Art classes and fun sports activities. Your child will learn Trinidadian, Brazilian and West African Music on authentic instruments from a group of nationally renowned teachers. Students will focus on the steel drum, the nationally instrument of Trinidad and Tobago as well as Djembe and Dun Dun drums from Guinea, West Africa and a variety of Samba drums and bells from Brazil.
Daily classes and rehearsals will culminate in a Friday afternoon performance showcasing the music learned during the week.
In addition, students will have a daily Art class focusing on carnival art- making Tee Shirts, Banners posters and Flags for their band to use in the final concert.
Daily fun sports activities will also be included. Enrollment is open to students grades 3-8, beginning to experienced levels.
The fee for the camp is $600 which includes use of all instruments and art supplies.
